Digvijay Singh now irks Congress high command
Digvijay boomerangs on the Congress
Digvijay Singh was the Rottweiler that the Congress high command had trained to bark at detractors of the UPA2 regime. Digvijay was doing an admirable job until recently with his canine attacks on Baba’s integrity, Anna’s credentials, and on the RSS’s ulterior agenda. However, his statement yesterday that “the PM ought to be included in the ambit of the Lok Pal” has greatly irked both the PM and the Congress high command. “I just don’t get it. Diggy’s current verbal attack is completely misdirected. He will have some explaining to do before the leadership” said a AICC secretary reported to be very, very close to the high command.
Digvijay Singh in his over-enthusiasm for his job as the Congress’ alpha attack dog seems to have ended up ticking off almost everyone other than the Congress high command. Perhaps to mend fences with civil society, Digvijay decided to support Anna Hazare’s demand for the Lok Pal’s jurisdiction covering the Prime Minister’s office. “I always felt giving Digvijay a free run could boomerang on us. Now my worst fears have come true” fretted another Congress leader.
