Even as Harbhajan Singh celebrates the momentous occasion of scaling the 400 wicket mark, a dampener has come along in the form of Royal Stag’s decision to discontinue Harbhajan Singh’s endorsement contract. Bhajji would no longer be seen ambling wistfully in his father’s ball bearing factory pondering if “he has made it large”.
“Well, the management reckons he’s finally made it large. With 400 wickets, he is now the third highest wicket taker in Tests after Kapil and Kumble. If thats not large, I don’t know what is” said an executive from Royal Stag. When asked if this decision had something to do with MS Dhoni’s McDowells ad making a mockery of Bhajji’s ad, the executive vehemently denied it.
Reportedly, the company is now scouting for suitable replacements among upcoming Indian cricket stars. A couple of the proposed options that are currently doing the rounds are – Shatakumaran Sreesanth climbing up a coconut tree in Kerala, attempting to pull out a huge coconut and wondering if he’s made it large, or Ravindra Jadeja sitting in a busy char-rasta in Ahmedabad handing over a double chai to a Gujarati trader, asking if he’s made it large.
