Rajniti Prasad strikes a nonchalant pose for the camera after single-handedly ending the Army chief's DOB controversy
The army chief’s Date Of Birth controversy has been resolved to the satisfaction of all stakeholders after RJD’s Rajniti Prasad intervened in the matter. While Attorney General G E Vahanvati was presenting the Government’s defense in the Supreme Court as to why General V K Singh’s birth year should be taken as 1950 based on the UPSC form that the highly decorated soldier had filled as a 14 year old greenhorn, Rajniti Prasad sprung from the visitors’ gallery, snatched the certificate from the baffled Attorney General’s hand, and shredded it to pieces. The Government’s case collapsed after that and it has withdrawn all objections to the Chief’s DOB being May,1951 and not May,1950.
The RJD leader later justified his actions. “This is complete bullshit yaar. First they fool the nation by presenting a Jokepal bill and now this ludicrous spectacle regarding the chief’s date of birth! I can’t let the nation be subjected to another farce.”
Rajniti was especially scathing of the Government’s misplaced adherence to procedure and protocol on this issue. “They want to go by that silly UPSC form even when the General’s service records including promotions and annual confidential reports have used the date of birth as mentioned on his matriculation and birth record certificates. The bureaucracy and the cabinet looked the other way when Raja was looting the exchequer but want to dig in their heels here and question the integrity of the chief of Asia’s second largest army. Haha… this is rich.”
Defense Minister AK Antony fainted again when informed about the incident while BJP’s Arun Jaitley lauded the act saying, “Rajniti has lived up to his name by displaying exemplary statecraft in resolving this non issue.”
A red-faced Manish Tiwari denied that the incident may have been orchestrated by the ruling party. “Rajniti has gone rogue ever since he tore the Government’s Lokpal bill. He doesn’t even listen to Lalu ji anymore. But yeah, I admit he has the saved the Government from the embarrassment of the Supreme Court potentially over-ruling the MoD.”
However, the SC has now slapped a notice on the PM, questioning his silence on various issues for the last 7 years.
