Karunanidhi too joins DMK’s “Jail bharo” agitation, courts “house arrest”!

Kalaignar all set to get incarcerated

The on-going “jail bharo” agitation by M Karunanidhi’s Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) against “unfair” arrests of their party members has gained fresh momentum, with the patriarch himself announcing that he also would contribute his 2G 2 cents for the cause by courting “house arrest”.

With Kanimozhi, MK Stalin and Dayanidhi Maran courting arrest at various jails in the city, the news has spread like wildfire, with prominent areas of Chennai trending on Twitter. The already on-fire protest has now received a nitro-boost with the Kalaignar himself joining the agitation from the quarters of his own residence. “Others have gone on-site paa, I will work from home by courting house arrest, paa!” proclaimed a smiling Karunanidhi, clearly proving that despite being an octogenarian, he is in sync with the IT generation.

Throwing more light on his protest, the Kalaignar continued in Tamil, saying, “I will not step out of my house at all today. Everyday I step out to the balcony to breathe in some fresh air, expose my cooling glasses to some sunshine so that they feel useful, watch the birds flying in the sky and write some poems paa. But today, as a part of my protest, I will not do even that. I will sit within the confines of my house reflect on the 2G scam and probably write one about it.”

Commenting on the DMK’s protest, Janata Party president Dr.Subramanian Swamy said, “It’s good that they’ve decided to check them (jails) out and have a trial run. I’ll anyways be sending them to Tihar soon. By the looks of it, Kani’s missing Tihar already.”

Mr M. Karunanidhi’s “Chinna Thambi” in Karnataka, B.S Yeddyurappa, chose to tread a path slightly different from that of his “Periyanna” ; “Why should we (politicians) be jailed? Why should I spend time in prison? Not being able to occupy the chief minister’s office, is no less a jail for me. Why should CBI or Lokayukta rub salt into my wound, when I am suffering so much for my people?” questioned Mr B.S Yeddyurappa, who holds a unique distinction of being both the former and (near) future chief minister of the state…..
