Inspired by CAG report, Rakesh Roshan plans Koyla sequel starring Manmohan Singh as mute hero

The CAG report tabled in Parliament today, which has estimated losses to the exchequer to the tune of Rs. 1.86 L crores due to discretionary, non-auction based allocation of coal blocks to 25 companies, may have caused a furore in political circles but has inspired Bollywood mogul Rakesh Roshan to announce a reboot of his yesteryear movie Koyla.

“I was casually browsing through the CAG report about procedural flaws in coal block allocations, greedy private companies seeking to grab coal, devious back-room deals, conniving babus, and the lead character of the Prime Minister himself, who was then heading the coal sector, playing a mute spectator to the proceedings.

It then struck me to remake Koyla, based on the CAG script, with Dr. Manmohan Singh reprising SRK’s role as the mute protagonist. Never been so creatively excited in my life man,” disclosed the father of Hrithik Roshan.

The ace director conceded that the script had some glaring gaps and would need to be reworked a bit. “Of course, there’s no eye candy or context for item numbers. Not to worry, I’ll create some space for Madhuri Dixit in the plot and insert some item numbers,” disclosed Roshan.

The ace director will now make the movie on an epic scale thanks to Anil Ambani’s Reliance Entertainment agreeing to finance the venture in return for Anil getting a meaty role in the movie. Incidentally, Anil Ambani’s Reliance Power was mentioned as one of the beneficiaries in the CAG report.

But the real casting coup is of Dr. Manmohan Singh essaying the lead role. “That’s right. Initially Dr. Singh was reluctant to play a screen hero saying he is only good at acting as the Prime Minister. But after I told him that he won’t have any dialogues and will get to share screen space with Madhuri Dixit, he gave his tacit consent by silently nodding his head. Isn’t that awesome?” raved Roshan.

CAG head Vinod Rai has gamely agreed to pen hard-hitting dialogue for the movie.
