Stepping up his symbolic protests against the “anti-people” rule of Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J. Jayalalitha, DMK supremo Thiru Mu. Karunanidhi has gone one step further from his recent decision to be clad in black hereafter – the Kalaignar, known for his classic Tamil poetry, has announced that he would pen down his literary works only in black ink henceforth.
“Karuppu thaan enakku pudicha color-u” (Black is my favorite color), the DMK patriarch was heard crooning. The symbolic protest has also inspired the Kalaignar to write a poem exalting the color black and its wondrous properties. The UnReal Times Tamil correspondent in Chennai, Anbazhagan Selvarasu Tamizhchelvan was meticulous enough in his timely translation of the poem into English:
Aah, what a beauty is the color black,
like the intoxicating effect of arrack,
consumed along with a spicy snack,
especially for those who want to come back,
to the seat of power and rule like Barack!
With this lovely color, we’re on the right track
Soon, they will be taken aback.
Of doing that often, they have a knack.
Of justice, there is now a total lack,
we are being given many a whack!
All due to a lady, leading the pack,
who is, when it comes to us, always on the attack,
even after drawing a lot of flak.
That wraps up another poem on my stack,
Let me now hit the sack.
Karunanidhi has also stated that his next move will be to further intensify his protest by dyeing his hair black.
