In what can be seen as another feather in his cap, Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal has been conferred the rare honour of being India’s official entry to The Oscars. The AAP founder has been touted as one of the frontrunners for the award by many who have witnessed his conduct and actions over the past two months.
“Usually we send very well scripted and strong, powerful dramas in the form of CDs or videotapes as our entries for The Oscars but this time, it’s a different experience – a man himself is being sent to the jury and this is no ordinary man. This is a man who has mastered the arts of theatrics and histrionics to create enough high-octane drama and mind-blowing action. We’re assured of an award, because if they don’t give it to him, he’ll call them corrupt, dishonest and what’s more – he’ll sit on a dharna outside the Kodak Theater in LA and then try to break the barricades. At night, he’ll sleep on the walk of fame. They’ll eventually be forced to give it to him,” said a glowing member of the selection committee.
The Chief Minister, however, claimed that he would not go to Los Angeles for the Oscars. “Main ek aam aadmi hoon, yaar. Mera kya aukaad hai? I’ll just stay here and enjoy gol gappes,” before booking his flight tickets and asking his supporters to follow suit and accompany him en masse. The news has brought great joy to AAP supporters, with many of them hailing Kejriwal as the only clean and honest person to have ever been nominated for The Oscars. Many journalists of the mainstream media too, have confirmed booking their seats in the vicinity of the CM’s seat, for undeterred and copious coverage of his flight journey.
When The UnReal Times contacted Kejriwal for his reaction, he said, “The people of India are the official entry to the Oscars, not me,” before accusing us of promoting the BJP and the Congress.
