Having done everything possible in his power so far in his career to win an Oscar, Leonardo Dicaprio, in a last roll of the dice, has turned to Hindu deities to fulfil his lifelong wish of winning an Oscar. Dicaprio has been nominated for Best Actor for playing the legendary bear trapper Hugh Glass in The Revenant.
Speaking to The UnReal Times, Dicaprio said, “My Indian fans told me that if I seek darshan of Lord Balaji at Tirupathi, all my wishes will be fulfilled. So I decided to go on a pilgrimage to India and visit several temples starting with Tirupati Balaji.”
Like many other devotees, Dicaprio got his head shaved and patiently waited in the long queue to seek a glimpse of the Lord. “It was an uplifting experience. Although I wish I could have spent a bit more time in front of the deity. Before I could even have a proper look, the guys over there shouted jargundi! jargundi! and shoved me away.”
Next, Dicaprio will don the black robes of an Ayyappa devotee and walk to the Sabarimala temple. Then he will visit various other temples including Siddhivinayak temple in Mumbai, Meenakshi amman temple in Madurai, Kashi vishwanath temple among others. Dicaprio will conclude his Indian pilgrimage with a visit to Mata Vaishno Devi.
“Jab maa ka bulawa aata hai, to jaana hi padega [When mother calls, one must go],” Dicaprio signed off with a smile.
